Irrigation Manager
Daniel is our expert Irrigation Manager on our berry farm, and is just one of many team members who have relocated to the Cressy area to take advantage of the employment opportunities available at Burlington Berries.
Daniel, his wife and four children joined us from the Coffs Harbour region, and now call Cressy home. Highly skilled in horticultural irrigation practices, he is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day watering and fertigation of berry crops on the Burlington farm. His expertise in irrigation ensures that the Burlington crops are receiving correct watering and nutrition, to consistently produce healthy and sustainable berry crops, helping to make a ‘Better Berry’.
Daniel is also passionate about the team culture of Burlington Berries. When asked what he enjoys most about his work, Daniel picks the company of his colleagues. “I would absolutely recommend working here. It’s a fun, respectful, progressive environment,”. He enjoys guiding his own department, but also learning from other people in different departments and roles outside of irrigation.
For Daniel, the move to Burlington didn’t just give him a new career, it gave him and his family a whole new lifestyle. Like many other Burlington Berries team members moving to the area, he has contributed to enriching and growing our community, sporting clubs, schools and businesses.
This move allowed Daniel to purchase his first home where the family enjoys the tranquillity and expansive garden for the kids to play in and eventually raise chickens and sheep. Their children love the local primary school and enjoy the offerings of rural subjects including Agriculture Science, where they get hands-on experience at the school’s own farm, populated by highland cattle and sheep. The family also enjoy the local bakery, Rustic Bakehouse, a well loved establishment by locals and the Burlington Berries team.
“Burlington Berries has given me a significant opportunity to step up, in both my career and personal life,” reflects Daniel, “I am proud of where I am now and that is the result of moving to Cressy and becoming part of the Burlington Berries team”
Burlington Berries was established in Tasmania in 2012. Originally from NSW where the Sutherland family has farmed for generations, Kate and Stewart purchased Burlington Farm in 2010 as a location for their premium pasture seed business Upper Murray Seeds. In 2012 they joined with long term friends and 50% business partners Marion and Jon Regan and they established Burlington Berries. The next generation of Sutherlands now call Tasmania home, working alongside their parents to deliver a ‘Better Berry’ for all Australians to enjoy.

“My role at Burlington Berries is both behind the scenes and hands on, sometimes I am analysing relevant data, other times I am onsite, with my hands in the soil”
